Currently, HGL has a position open for a Field Technician 3 working out of the Emmell’s and South Jersey Clothing Company Groundwater Treatment Plants in Galloway Township and Buena Borough, respectively. Travel between the two sites will be required on a weekly basis.  Travel to other Ground Water Treatment Plants in New Jersey or adjacent states may be required on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities/Duties

The position requires the ability to:
  • Assist Treatment Plant Operators with daily operations and maintenance.
  • Perform treatment plant sampling as directed by the treatment plant operator and organize, pack, and ship process water samples. 
  • Be able to assist the treatment plant operator with mechanical repair tasks such as valve and piping repair.
  • Execute field activities, including environmental sampling, and provide input to field project deliverables (daily reports, field measurements, etc.).
  • Provide input to technical reports and work flow through home office personnel.
  • Complete field documentation that is 100% complete, maintained in a neat and organized fashion, and legible to others.
  • Interface with other field personnel including environmental scientists and engineers and support personnel. 
  • Record data between instruments, meters, gauges, and field sheets or tablets and upload data into a web-based site such as SharePoint.
  • Able to work with subcontractor personnel on a day-to-day basis.
  • Successfully use environmental instruments such as sampling pumps, DO meters, water level meters, PIDs, and other field sampling equipment required.
  • Employ safe practices in all aspects of their work and will immediately document and report any unsafe practice to their supervisors.  

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of gear.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite.
  • Safety is a key element for this position and the individual must have a strong commitment to safety.
  • The individual will be reliable and with good work ethic such that they will show up at the assigned treatment plant or job site as scheduled or, if on a rare occasion is unable to do so, will contact the appropriate manager so that a replacement can be assigned in time for their scheduled activity.  

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 2-4 years performing in related areas of responsibility.
  • Construction, mechanical, plumbing or electrical experience is a plus.  

Required Education

High School diploma or GED plus a minimum of 1-year additional relevant training and current HAZWOPER certification

A pre-hire drug test is required. Some positions require a fit for duty baseline physical. Some positions may require US Citizenship. Position may require the ability to pass installation background checks.
