HGL is currently seeking an Associate Project Chemist to join our team in the Overland Park, KS office. We are open to other possible office locations including Denver CO, San Antonio TX, and Reston VA (DC metro). We are seeking a candidate with a thorough
knowledge of environmental analytical chemistry methodologies as described in EPA SW-846 and QC procedures as applicable to environmental analytical chemistry.
This is a hands-on role where typical responsibilities include:
Managing project tasks associated with sampling and analysis including preparation of UFP QAPP
Instructing field personnel in sampling and preservation requirements
Coordinating with the analytical laboratory to ensure readiness to implement project specific requirements
Reviewing analytical data as it becomes available to ensure conformance with quality standards
Implementing corrective actions in accordance with these specifications when a review of data uncovers deficiencies
Serving as a point of contact for our client for issues related to environmental chemistry
Familiarity with and understanding of the various compendiums of laboratory analytical methods, including SW-846.
Experience conducting multiple levels of data review, up to and including detailed reviews of full laboratory data packages.
Experience with operation and use of analytical laboratory equipment (e.g., GC and/or GC/MS)
Knowledge of QC protocol associated with federal projects (i.e. DoD QSM, EPA CLP)
Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Familiarity with databases.
Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently.
2 – 4 years of professional experience at the level of a commercial environmental analytical laboratory or working as a consultant.
B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry
A pre-hire drug test is required. Some positions may require US citizenship or the ability to pass an installation background check.
