Description/Job Summary

HydroGeoLogic, Inc. (HGL) has a position open for a Staff Engineer in the Atlanta area to support HGL’s growing business associated with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Remedial Action Framework (RAF) contracts. HGL is a leader in the environmental remediation industry, with over 30 years of experience providing comprehensive engineering and design services by implementing innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that address environmental, infrastructure, and natural resource management challenges. HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to EPA, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Air Force (AF), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and other clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution and evaluation of environmental remediation and/or construction field tasks and related office work, including work plan and report preparation, remedial design support, and report preparation. Assigned tasks may also include the following: calculations, data collection and environmental sampling, data analysis, conceptual site model development, groundwater flow, and contaminant transport modeling, report preparation, cost estimation, construction oversight, interpretation of environmental regulations, and oversight of map and drawing development.

Required Skills

  • Must demonstrate a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation and creativity.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must also be willing to participate in all project tasks including but not limited to field work, data analysis, and report preparation.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and other MS Office applications.

Preferred Skills

Proficiency in MS Project and MS PowerPoint are a plus.

Required Experience

  • Four or more years of directly related work experience in addition to education is required.
  • Must have experience in environmental remediation, authoring technical reports, and reviewing and interpreting environmental data.

Preferred Experience

Experience with the following is highly desirable:

  • RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DoE, or USEPA projects;
  • remedial system design support, implementation, and operation;
  • performance of field activities;
  • experience with environmental site operations;
  • environmental sampling; and
  • oversight of enviornmental field activites or enviornmental construction projects. 

Required Education

  • Minimum of a BS degree in an engineering discipline such as Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A PE or EIT with ability to get PE within two years is required.

Preferred Education

A MS degree or higher is considered a plus but is not required.

Required Qualifications

  • To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform field tasks.
  • Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes.
  • The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment.
  • Travel, overtime, and moderate physical work are routinely required.


  • The successful candidate will be required to pass the installation security checks.
  • A pre-hire drug test and physical exam are required.
  • Some positions may require US Citizenship.
