Description/Job Summary

Currently, HGL is seeking a Surveyor to join our team in St. Louis, Missouri.HGL (HydroGeologic, Inc.), is an industry leader with over 30 years of experience providing comprehensive environmental engineering services by implementing innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that address today’s environmental, infrastructure, and natural resource challenges. Responsibilities/Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with engineers, hydrogeologists, project managers, construction staff, and other technical staff in the surveying to support development of drawings, designs and figures associated with technical documents and execution of remedial construction activities.  Must be able to execute multiple projects and tasks concurrently. Local travel in the St. Louis area and vicinity will be required.  Responsibilities will include:


  • Provide horizontal and vertical control for accurate measurement and installation of construction materials.
  • Provide topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and quantity calculations.
  • Surveying for development of as-built drawings.
  • Obtain data pertaining to angles, elevations, points and contours for construction using GPS system, level, transit or other surveying instruments.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews and final preparation of all survey deliverables.
  • Provide support as needed to project design and construction team.

Required Skills

Required skills include

  • excellent communication and organization
  •  strong technical writing and documentation
  •  working knowledge of AutoDesk, AutoCAD (release 2014 and above) or GIS, and Microsoft Word and Excel
  •  working under detailed quality assurance/quality control programs. Working knowledge of surveying equipment and techniques including total station, GPS, data collection and use of levels.

Preferred Skills

Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS software and integration with field GPS data collection activities is a plus. Ability to support a variety of remedial construction activities is preferred.

Required Experience

A minimum of five years of land surveying experience.  Experience with GPS, topographical data collection and CAD mapping.

Preferred Experience

8 years of land surveying experience.   Experience supporting construction projects.

Required Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Construction or Civil Engineering.

Required Qualifications

Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering/surveying drawings and documents.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Surveyors License.  OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Details
