Description/Job Summary

Currently, HGL is seeking a GIS Specialist 5 to join our team in St. Louis FUSRAP team in St. Louis, Missouri.

Responsibilities/Duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating maps, figures, and presentation materials in a Team Environment to support various environmental contracts with the Federal Government and other clients in the commercial and private sector using geospatial analysis.
  • Will utilize GIS to support environmental remediation efforts at contaminated sites, facilities and installations.
  • Will also assist in the creation and customization of GIS websites.
  • Projects will include mapping groundwater contaminants, groundwater elevations and sampling data.
  • Other projects may include the mapping of munitions surveys and geospatial data acquisition.
  • Duties may include processing GPS data, creating waypoint files and providing GIS analysis to support field team efforts.  

Required Skills

Computer proficiency in ArcGIS and MS Office in a MS Windows OS required. Must be able to effectively create, query and manage geospatial data in an enterprise class geospatial database (SDE). Web mapping skills required. Experience using ArcPy scripting, ArcGIS Java script API, Leaflet, or the ArcGIS API for Flex is beneficial.  

Must be able to work in a production environment and have working knowledge of GIS and cartographic concepts.  Effective oral and written communication, presentation skills, and the ability to complete projects independently and/or in small teams in a responsible and timely manner are required.  Strong interpersonal skills required. 

Preferred Skills

Experience and working knowledge related to the integration of ArcGIS with AutoCAD. Previous experience supporting a variety of remedial construction activities.  GPS Experience and experience with Spatial Analyst, 3-D Analyst, AutoCAD, Corel Draw, or Adobe Illustrator is a plus

Required Experience

A minimum of 4 years’ experience performing the duties of a GIS Specialist 5 is required. Must have experience in using ArcGIS to generate presentation quality maps and figures.

Preferred Experience

Experience in Python, Java script, Leaflet, SDSFIE, and SQL and/or experience creating GIS Web sites. 

Required Education

BS or BA in Geography, Geographic Information Systems or related field. 

Preferred Education

MS or MA in Geography, Geographic Information Systems or related field preferred.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency in GIS and ability to apply to planning and support of field investigations, designs, construction, project plans and reports.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency applying GIS standards and meeting quality assurance/quality control requirements associated with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers remediation or construction projects is preferred.

Details

A pre-hire drug test is required, and some positions may require a fit-for-duty baseline physical. Position requires U.S. citizenship.
